Luke could sense, while cooling off in the hammock with Mom, that some important people were arriving.
He was really excited to finally meet Aunt Jenn and Uncle Bob!

Luke Meets Maine
Luke came to Maine for the first time in the middle of a horrible heat wave. Here Grandpa is holding him after an impromptu 'cooldown' bath.
Grandpa looks like he might need one too!

Luke's First Flight
Luke traveled in style on his first trip to the United States. He was happy as a bug and the zip top even kept him from rolling onto his stomach (a problem these days).
Just in time, too, as he only has one kilo to go until he outgrows the bassinet! Mom is worried for the next trip!

Cousins Reunited & Nonni Asilo
Cousin Harry is visiting from Singapore (along with Zia Elena) so Luke finally had a companion around his size.
It was a big day of almosts -- Harry can almost walk and Luke can almost giggle. They were super-cute!!

Trip to Asolo
Last Saturday we checked out a stunning city in northern Italy named Asolo.
Luke loved the church bells at dinner -- he was really giggling.
Two Guys and Their Socks
Simon rocking the argyle look, Luke rocking the cowboy look (in 35 Celsius heat).
Well, we warned Luke about the possible long-term effects of sock wearing! http://thenewlittleguy.blogspot.com/2011/07/sartorial-expressions.html

Visitors!
Two weekends ago Simon and Marina came to visit Luke from London. They were surprised by how how much round the clock attention he needs but gladly pitched in to help. Timely lesson learned, too, as they are expecting their own Little Guy in a few short months!

4th of July
OK, so we are a little late with the post, but here are some pictures of the fun times we had with Luke at his first ever 4th of July celebration.
We went on the US military post to find other Americans, and wound up finding lots of Italians too! Luke is an American citizen now, so he blended in with both crowds.

Still Loving the Bath
Luke is always really content after his ritual nighttime bath. Here is Papa holding him after he gets out.
Hmm...who does Luke get his fascination with mirrors from?

Luke & The Bigs
Cousins Marcello and Stefania came over for dinner. Luke was cranky sitting in his chair until we let him join the Bigs.
He especially liked his wine lesson from Sommelier Marcello. We think he has a nose already!

Luke's First Birthday Party!
A few weeks ago Luke went to his first birthday party! Jude and Aden's (his #1 fans) mom made an over-the-top awesome party, setting the bar really high for the rest of us.
Luke spent some time with Dad exploring the cobblestones
and then ended on a bit of a low note -- perhaps because he was a little jealous of the attention being turned on his two usually adoring fans, or perhaps because of the Huggies Little Swimmers incident. There is no way to tell.

Baptism / Il Battesimo
Luke was baptized in a beautiful church off of Piazza Signori in Vicenza. Family and friends came to support him in this important step in his spiritual life.

We were proud of our Little Guy - he didn't cry at all. Maybe this is because he was really sleepy - at the party afterwards he didn't open an eye!
